BIO

The human body is one of the most complex, organic structures on this planet. It’s the foundation from where my work comes from. I am fascinated by how the human body functions in reality and how as beings of conscious thought react with matter. The disciplines that I work with are painting, drawing and sculpture. Painting and drawing help me understand the mind and give me the ability to express how the mind works; it’s also an easy way to capture time while I am on the move. With sculpture I am able to express how the human form interacts with matter. I feel that my work is an ongoing understanding on the human form, using myself as my main source. Being an artist I feel is a responsibility to the public to express ideas that a lot of us shy away from instead of confronting it. My latest work showing ideas of mental illness and illnesses that cannot be seen brings this stigma out in the open to be accepted and understood.

Artist statement

Robin Price has a fascination with the mind and the body, using his own body as a template for many of his works. His work represents the problems that every human faces throughout their life, mental disturbances, body image, space-time and reality. Robin tends to work with mediums he thinks suit best for whatever he is trying to say, Experimenting with different materials is how he decides what’s best. Robin’s latest work is combining steel welded rods with spandex sewn suits to create human forms representing mental illness and illness that cannot be seen. These sculptures that Robin has created create feelings of uneasiness and inquisitiveness, placing them in a public space to provoke a reaction with his audience.
